M4 Studio

The M4 Innovation Studio is a one-semester (14 week) project based course.  The scope of the class challenges students with a simulation of a real-world innovation project that stimulates production of professional level proposals for new business growth. Projects may be sponsored or in partnership with organizations. Students gain experience and confidence through hands on application of innovation methodologies in the specific market context.

Emphasis is placed on taking a systems view to creatively develop strategic and human-centered proposals for high-value, business model based, designs that are worthy of further investment.  Students are provided lectures and led through a systematic innovation methodology that includes research of appropriate trends, identification of future business growth opportunities, designs that address opportunities, and the development of a strategy for the deployment of optimal offerings that will lead to resilient value within the industry context.  This course will allow for each student to individually develop and employ specific methods and processes introduced in prior Grad ID coursework.

Students work in teams during the research phases and then produce individual proposals for the class final.  Guest experts and lecturers participate in informing the research and development phases of the program as well as in the review of the final proposals.
